About Us

TastingShelf2George Spencer Tasting Room opened in 2013 under new ownership.  We are a tasting room and event center featuring Nebraska wines, micro brews and spirits.

George Spencer Tasting Room is located just outside of Gibbon and within a few miles of both US Highway 30 and Interstate 80, making it an easy stop for travelers. Because we are located on a 10 acre vineyard, many confuse us as a winery. We do not make any wine: we grow the grapes and sell them to other wineries in the state. We purchased the property in 2011 from Dr. L.R. Smith, who named the business after his Grandfather George Spencer. In 1918 George Spencer acquired the land to farm and built the house that same year. Dr Smith started the first vineyard on the property in 1998, then renovated the house and opened it in 2001 as one of the first few Tasting Rooms in the state. We acquired the property in 2011, reopened the Tasting Room in 2013, opened the upstairs apartment in early 2015 as a bed and breakfast, and added an event building we opened as The Barn in June 2015. At The Tasting Room we focus on Nebraska made wines, offering 4-6 wines for sampling or by the glass, or you may purchase any bottle from the shelf to enjoy here or take with you. We also carry an assortment of Nebraska made beer and spirits. During the summer months we host live outdoor music during the weekends at The Barn, the rest of the years it’s rented for private events.

Our gift selection includes varietal specific glasses for wine and beer, along with all the tools and accessories to better enjoy your wine.  We do not serve any meals but do have an assortment of snack food items available for individual purchase.
